Production technology

Hallingdal Trepellets produce pellets from fresh timber, without additives. The production is mainly that of local timber from Hallingdal. Raw timber is chopped to saw dust. The dust is dried by the wastewater from the incineration plants of Hallingdal Renovasjon. Dried saw dust is finely ground in a hammermill and then pressed under high pressure to pellets. The pellets are then cooled before transported to storage. Hallingdal Trepellets contributes to provision of lower quality timber, thereby strengthening the local forestry. The short distance between the forest and the factory requires a limited need for transport, and the production creates local jobs.
